The existing office buildings at Thanet Circle, which are mostly vacant, will be demolished to allow construction of two developments - the first will be an apartment complex being developed by Avalon Bay. The complex will include a total of 221 homes in apartment buildings and townhouses, including 11 affordable units. Five of these 11 units will be specifically reserved for people with special needs. Avalon Bay has conveyed a 2+-acre portion of the property to the municipality for the construction of a senior affordable housing development, Princeton Senior Living. Avalon will pay a Payment In Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) to the municipality. A portion of these payments will be used to help underwrite the senior development.
